Curo Animal Medical Center

The renovation of Curo Animal Medical Center demonstrates how close collaboration and engineering expertise can transform complex design challenges into elegant architectural solutions. The project called for ForMe Design Battens 50 to provide solar shading across a curved façade featuring expansive glazed openings, creating a distinctive exterior that balances performance with visual impact.

The design presented several technical challenges. Battens measuring more than 21 feet in length were required to span over 16 feet while following the building’s curved radius. In addition, the glazing system was positioned on a different plane, removing the most straightforward attachment point and requiring a bespoke approach to the support structure.

Working closely with the architect, structural engineer, Griggs Systems, and ForMe Design, Omnis helped develop a custom-engineered clip system that preserved the original design intent without compromise. The solution was engineered to support the dead load of the battens, accommodate thermal expansion and contraction across the extended spans, and maintain the clean, uninterrupted architectural aesthetic. To ensure a seamless finish, the custom extruded brackets were powder coated to match the battens, integrating the structural components into the overall façade design.

It is a testament to the value of early collaboration between the design team, manufacturer, installer, and supplier – ensuring ambitious concepts become buildable, durable, and visually striking realities.
