Energy Edge Rigid Perimeter Insulation

Form with Function™

Permanent Insulated
Concrete Edge Formwork

EnergyEdge® Insulated Concrete Edge Formwork

EnergyEdge® is a leave-in-place concrete perimeter formwork that provides protected rigid perimeter insulation around the edge of the concrete slab. EnergyEdge formwork system insulates slab and foundation edges, meeting the requirement for concrete slab edge insulation (SEI), and ICC building and energy codes.

The end result is an aesthetically superior concrete edge that is thermally isolated at its transition from below grade to the wall.

EnergyEdge® Permanent Insulated Concrete Edge Formwork

EnergyEdge forming systems are extruded PVC “E”-shaped rails with high-density R-10 EPS insulation and serve multiple functions:

  • EnergyEdge forming rails replace wood forming boards and provide protection, insulation, and forming options for concrete foundations and slab edges in one product.
  • EnergyEdge formwork system remains in place to transition and protect concrete edges.
  • EnergyEdge forming systems save time and labor while reducing material waste and landfill costs.
  • EnergyEdge EPS insulation is termite treated and approved for below-grade applications.
  • EnergyEdge formwork system provides numerous interface advantages:
    • Enhances the performance of energy-saving building envelope assemblies
    • Provides the missing base termination and flashing link to building and finishing systems

EnergyEdge® Product Descriptions

Full Height Edge Insulation, “FB”, Forming Rail – EE8fb

  • Dimensions: 8″ tall x 2.75″ wide x 10′ long
  • Weight: 14lbs / rail
  • Packaging: Standard order pallets of 75 rails (750 lf)
  • Other parts, reference: EE8sb support braces and FB90 corners
Applications: Ideal for 2 x 6 wood framing and commercial projects where full edge insulation is desirable, basement and stem-wall formed wall inserts.
1-1/2″ x 1-1/2″ Notched, “MB”, Forming Rail – EE8mb
  • Insulation: Contains R-10 2lb density EPS w/ insect resistant borate
  • Dimensions: 8″ tall x 2.75″ wide x 10′ long
  • Weight: 14lbs / rail
  • Packaging: Standard order pallets of 75 rails (750 lf)
  • Other parts, reference: EE8sb support braces and FB90 corners
Applications: Ideal for 2 x 4 wood framing and commercial projects requiring full wall bearing, basement, and stem-wall formed wall inserts, weep offsets for stucco, EIFS, adhered stone, and more.
Support Brace “SB” for “FB” and “MB” Forming Rails – EE8sb
  • Interior Support: SBbraces “snap” into top and bottom on the interior of EErails and are mechanically fastened to the concrete foundation.
  • Packaging: Come in boxes of 80
  • Weight: 22 lbs / box.
  • Other parts, reference: For “FB” and “MB” rails.
Applications: Install one brace across each “butt” joint of EErail, 12″ on either side of joints and 24″ oc elsewhere. Figure 5 to 6 braces per rail when estimating. Also acts as a perimeter re-bar support “chair”. Use PAF or common “drilled” concrete fasteners.
90° Corner Transition for EE8fb (FB90) and EE8mb (MB90)
  • Dimensions: 4″ x 2-3/4″ angle member
  • Weight: 4 lbs. per box of 10
  • Packaging: Box of 10, includes color matching, self-tapping, screws.
  • Other parts, reference: EE8fb and EE8mb forming + insulating rails
Applications: Used for connecting and finishing both inside and outside corners for EErails. Can also serve as termination cover for exposed ends of EErails if necessary. This EE angle material can be ordered in 10′ lengths (EEextension) and cut to cover stacked EErails.
  • Dimensions: 4″ x 2-3/4″
  • Weight: 1 lb per bundle of 10
  • Packaging: Bundles of 10, includes color matching, self-tapping, screws
Applications: Leveler angles are mechanically fastened to rough and out-of-level concrete substrates in alignment with face of EErails and then fastened to properly leveled EErails with provided self-tapping screws. Use 1 per 30″, interior shimming below EEbraces and/or exterior kickers is necessary.
