ZENOVA FX500 Tackles Most Early Fire Emergencies

Cooking, cigarettes, appliance fires, lithium batteries, cell phones, camp fires … Accidental fires are a common occurrence. Each of these fires can be extinguished with ZENOVA FX500 hand-held aerosol fire extinguisher.

American Homeowners Fear Fire Emergency

According to the 2021 NFPA report entitled “Home Structure Fires”:

  • More than one-quarter (26%) of reported fires in 2015-2019 occurred in homes.
  • Home fires caused three-quarters (75%) of civilian fire deaths, and almost three-quarters (72%) of all reported injuries were caused by home fires.
  • During this five-year period, US fire departments responded to an estimated average of 346,800 home structure fires per year. These fires caused an annual average of 2,620 civilian deaths; 11,070 civilian fire injuries; and $7.3 billion in direct property damage.
  • Most home fires and fire casualties result from five causes:
    • Cooking
    • Heating
    • Electrical distribution and lighting equipment
    • Intentional fire setting
    • Smoking materials
  • Cooking was the leading cause of home fires and home fire injuries, while smoking was the leading cause of home fire deaths.

NFPA says that most of the reduction in fire deaths over the past decades has been due to a reduction in fires rather than the prevention of harm after a fire is reported. ZENOVA FX500 handheld aerosol fire extinguishers will extinguish most household fires.

Lithium-ion Battery Fires Are Happening More Often

When lithium-ion batteries fail or overheat, they release flammable, toxic gasses that can spark a fast-spreading fire that is extremely difficult to extinguish. Autoweek reports that lithium-ion battery fires in electric vehicles have halted pickup truck production, burned down a neighborhood grocery store in the Bronx, and forced a commercial jet emergency landing because of a smoking overhead bin.

CNN says the number of lithium-ion battery-based fires is growing with enormous frequency when it comes to e-bikes and e-scooters. A residential fire in Carlsbad, California was suspected to be caused by an e-scooter lithium battery. An alarming video showed a Canadian homeowner running downstairs to find his electric bike battery exploding into flames. A fire at a multi-family home in Massachusetts is also under investigation for similar issues.

By the time a firefighting team responds, the fire is all-consuming. It’s up to individuals to have effective fire extinguishing technology at their fingertips to tackle the fire in the early stage.

Exploding Cell Phones

PC says there are many reasons a smartphone may catch fire or explode, and it almost always has to do with the device’s battery. Modern mobile devices are powered by lithium-ion batteries, which contain a careful balance of positive and negative electrodes to allow for recharging. When something goes wrong, the inner components of the battery can break down and create a volatile reaction that can lead to fires.

PC says there may not be a warning before a cell phone catches fire, but if hissing or popping sounds come from the phone or the smell of burning plastic or chemicals, it may be damaged and on the verge of catching fire. Similarly, look out for excessive heat coming from the device, especially when charging. If it’s burning hot to the touch, unplug it immediately.

Camping Fires

ZENOVA FX500 is a camping necessity. It’s portable, lightweight, and powerful. It will quickly extinguish a fire at its inception.

The critical factors to consider when camping:

  • Chains dragging behind cars and campers trigger wildfires every season. Dry grass at trailheads combined with hot exhausts can also spark flames.
  • Stick to established gravel parking areas and avoid parking in grassy areas since hot exhaust pipes and catalytic converters can ignite dry grasses. Not only will the grasses burn, but the car will, too.
  • Escaped campfires are the most common wildfire igniter. Overhead trees, nearby deadfall, and embers carried on the wind can all lead to fires.
